Your retirement may seem like a long way off, but now is the time to start planning. If you are prepared - emotionally and financially - you will enjoy your retirement years to the fullest. Although you'll have more time for special people and activities when you retire, you may miss your friends and duties at work. You might even miss the daily stress. Mixed feelings are a natural part of retirement. If you know what to expect, the adjustment will be easy.

If you are a regular full-time employee of the Omaha Public Schools who is at least 50 years of age you are eligible to participate in two workshops during your career.

Financial Planning Workshop

Gaining control of your financial affairs can appear to be an enormous challenge. How does my health insurance work? How will the bills get paid if I'm laid up and can't work? What is the Plan 125 program and how will it really help me? should I be investing in a 403(b) account now? How will I save enough money to help my kids get through college? Do i need a will now? How can I be sure I don't still have house payments when I'm ready to retire? What will my retirement plan provide? If you have have any of these questions, now is the time to get started on the answers. This workshop is designed for employees who are more than ten years from retirement. You can reach your financial goals if you choose to get organized now and take control of your financial future.
